Agreement between user and the Singapore Academy of Law (“SAL”) with respect to www.singaporelawwatch.sg (“Website”) and the Website’s daily e-mail subscription service and any other services (collectively “Services”) made available on the Website, whether by subscription or otherwise.

References to “Website” herein shall include the Website in its entirety as well as its individual pages, and shall include any of the Services offered by SAL on the Website. The Website and Services offered to you are conditioned on your acceptance without modification of the terms and conditions, contained herein. Your use of the Website constitutes your agreement to all such terms and conditions.

Please read these Terms of Use (including the Privacy Policy at https://sal.org.sg/Footer/Privacy-Policy (collectively the “Website Conditions”)) before using the Website and Services. The Privacy Policy explains SAL’s data use and privacy practices in detail, and you agree that SAL may collect, use, disclose and process your personal data in accordance with the terms of the Privacy Policy. In no circumstances shall SAL be considered to be associated or affiliated in whatever manner with any trade or service marks, logos, insignia or other devices used or appearing on websites that link to this Website or any of the Content.

SAL has no obligation to monitor the Communication Services. However, SAL reserves the right to review materials posted to a Communication Service and to remove any materials in its sole discretion. SAL reserves the right to terminate your access to any or all of the Communication Services at any time without notice for any reason whatsoever.

SAL further reserves the right at all times to disclose any information as necessary to satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process or governmental request, or to edit, refuse to post or to remove any information or materials, in whole or in part, in SAL’s sole discretion.

The data and information made available on the Website do not purport, and shall not in any way be deemed, to constitute an offer or provision of any legal, professional or expert advice.

You agree that:

a) SAL shall be entitled at any time, at its sole and absolute discretion and without prior notice, to add to, vary, terminate, withdraw or suspend the operation of the whole or any part or feature of the Website or Services without assigning any reason; and

b) access to or the operation of the Website and/or Servers may from time to time be interrupted or encounter technical or other problems and may not necessarily continue uninterrupted or without technical or other errors, and in any such event, SAL shall not be liable for any loss, liability or damage which may be incurred as a result.

TERMINATION/ACCESS RESTRICTION

SAL reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion and at any time without prior notice, to restrict, suspend or terminate your access to and/or use of all or any part of the Website and Services.

JURISDICTIONAL ISSUES

The Website is owned and operated by SAL. SAL makes no representation that the Website or Services are appropriate or available for use in your jurisdiction. Those who choose to access the Website from any location do so on their own initiative and are responsible for compliance with local laws, if and to the extent local laws are applicable. Use of the Website is unauthorised in any jurisdiction that does not give effect to all or any provisions of these terms and conditions.

INDEMNITY

You agree to indemnify and hold SAL, and its subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, agents, partners, and employees, harmless from all claims, demands, actions, proceedings, liabilities (including statutory liability and liability to third parties), penalties, and costs (including without limitation, legal costs on a full indemnity basis), awards, losses and/or expenses, arising out of or in connection with:

a) your access to or use of the Website or Services;

b) your breach of any of these Website Conditions;

c) your violation of any rights of another person or entity; or

d) your breach of any statutory requirement, duty or law.

SEVERABILITY

The invalidity, illegality or unenforceability of any of these Website Conditions shall not affect the validity, legality and enforceability of the remaining provisions of these Website Conditions.

RELATIONSHIP OF PARTIES

Nothing in these Website Conditions or your use of the Services shall constitute or be deemed to constitute an agency, partnership, employment or joint venture relationship between SAL and you and neither party shall have any authority to bind the other in any way.

WAIVER

A failure by SAL to exercise or enforce any rights conferred upon it by these Website Conditions shall not be deemed to be a waiver or variation of any such rights or operate so as to bar the exercise or enforcement thereof at any subsequent time or times.

GOVERNING LAW AND DISPUTE RESOLUTION

These Website Conditions and all matters relating to your access to, or use of, the Website and Services shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Singapore. 

Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Website Conditions, including any question regarding its existence, validity or termination, shall be settled by mediation in Singapore at the Singapore Mediation Centre ("SMC") in accordance with SMC's Mediation Procedure in force for the time being.
