Updated Panel of Medical Experts in Relation to Single Joint Expert Scheme for Personal Injury Claims
On 22 November 2012, the Single Joint Expert (‘SJE’) Scheme was implemented pursuant to the Subordinate Courts Practice Direction Amendment No. 4 of 2012, modifying the Pre-Action Protocol for Personal Injury Claims to introduce the appointment of a SJE by parties where the quantum of general damages is less than $20,000 before the apportionment of liability and excluding interest.
The Subordinate Courts provided the Law Society with a list of medical specialists who had consented to emplacement on a panel of medical experts in relation to the SJE scheme ('the Panel') (as of November 2012). The Subordinate Courts had requested the list to be disseminated to the Personal Injuries Bar to facilitate the appointment of SJEs by claimants and insurers under the SJE Scheme. For details, please click here to access the earlier notice sent to members on 27 November 2012.
The Subordinate Courts have since provided the Law Society with an updated list of medical specialists, including specialists who have applied to join the Panel after November 2012. Please click here for the updated list of specialists on the Panel.
