The Subordinate Courts
Punctuality for Court Hearings

The Law Society has received a request from the Subordinate Courts to remind members to be punctual for all Court hearings. While the Subordinate Courts appreciate that some members may have multiple Court hearings to attend to in a single day, members should arrange their schedules so as to be punctual for all hearings.

The Subordinate Courts Practice Direction 2006 provides that all solicitors appearing in any cause or matter are to be punctual in attending Court as delay in commencement of hearing leads to wastage of judicial time. Appropriate sanctions may be imposed for late attendances. To access the relevant paragraphs of the Subordinate Courts Practice Directions, please click here.
