THE SINGAPORE CHAMBER OF MARITIME ARBITRATION (SCMA)
The Singapore Chamber of Maritime Arbitration (SCMA) is one of Asia’s leading arbitration centres. SCMA provides a framework for maritime and international trade arbitrations that is responsive to the needs of users. SCMA’s members and users come from all sectors of the maritime and international trade communities and from many different countries. Together with SCMA’s specialised Panel of Arbitrators and proven track record, SCMA offers the maritime and international trade communities a neutral, cost-effective and flexible approach to resolve their disputes expeditiously.
Why choose SCMA?
SCMA’s distinctive features include:
• Flexible, Un-Administered Model: As an un-administered model, SCMA is not involved in the management of the arbitration process. The un-administered approach is preferred by the global shipping and trading communities and allows parties the time and flexibility to manage their disputes in a commercial manner.
• Panel of Maritime Expertise: SCMA has one of the largest panels of specialised maritime arbitrators in Asia. Comprising industry, technical, and legal professionals from the various maritime and shipping specialisations, SCMA’s arbitrators hail from diverse nationalities and jurisdictions, who can conduct hearings and render awards in different languages. Parties may, but are not obliged to, appoint an arbitrator from SCMA’s panel.
