[SAL Prac]: Crypto Assets are Property, Specifically, Choses in Action, that are Capable of Being Held on Trust – ByBit Fintech Ltd v Ho Kai Xin [2023] SGHC 199 [case comment]

This article examines the decision of ByBit Fintech Ltd v Ho Kai Xin [2023] SGHC 199 where a summary judgment was obtained against the defendant for a breach of her employment contract and abuse of her position to unjustly enrich herself. This decision is the first time a common law court has declared that cryptocurrency is property capable of being held on trust, and its nature is that of a chose in action. This article also examines potential implications that may arise from this decision.

Launch of tripartite framework for prevention of abuse and harassment in healthcare

On 13 December 2023, the Ministry of Health announced the launch of the Tripartite Framework for the Prevention of Abuse and Harassment in Healthcare by the Tripartite Workgroup for the Prevention of Abuse and Harassment of Healthcare Workers. The framework provides all healthcare institutions with a common definition of abuse and harassment, and a consistent set of standards to safeguard their workers.

Berjaya Land’s subsidiary forms consortium with IJM Construction, MRCB and KTMB to bid for KL-Singapore HSR project

Berjaya Land Bhd (BLand) has revealed that its 70% owned subsidiary, Berjaya Rail Sdn Bhd, has formed a consortium with IJM Construction Sdn Bhd, Malaysian Resources Corporation Bhd (MRCB), and Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB) to participate in the bidding for the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore high-speed rail (KL-SG HSR) project.
