A guide on the new safety standards to secure high-risk transactions made via mobile applications

The Cyber Security Agency of Singapore in consultation with industry partners developed the Safe App Standard (“Standard”) to combat rise and continued prevalence of online fraud and scams. Standard provides a common benchmark and guidance to local app developers and providers on the necessary security controls and best practices to better protect their applications, and, in turn, their end-users, against common malware and phishing attempts. This article provides an overview of the best practices set out in the Standard.

Criminal Procedure (Miscellaneous Amendments) Bill 2024 introduced to enhance transparency, fairness, and coherence in criminal court processes

On 10 January 2024, the Ministry of Law and the Ministry of Home Affairs issued a press release on the first reading of the Criminal Procedure (Miscellaneous Amendments) Bill 2024. The Bill advances the criminal justice system and contains significant proposals aimed at (a) protecting the public by strengthening levers to tackle crime, including serious sexual crime, and (b) enhancing transparency, fairness and coherence in criminal court processes.
